PSHE
This year we have returned to school using the PiXL return to school wellbeing package which covers a range of different subjects that address the time children have spent out of school due to Coronavirus and the wellbeing barriers they might face on their return to school. These include reconnecting and re-engaging, managing change, being challenged, getting on with others and support networks. Year 6 also complete a ‘You are Awesome’ unit in the first term which questions their mindset, encouraging a growth mindset, and develops their resilience ready for their SATs preparation.
We then use the Jigsaw scheme of work for the remaining terms, which is a comprehensive scheme of work giving children relevant learning experiences to help them navigate their world and to develop positive relationships with themselves and others. It has a strong emphasis on emotional literacy, helping children to build resilience and nurture mental and physical health. This scheme also links with our E-safety topics covered and allow children to apply knowledge they have learnt in their e-safety sessions to personal and emotional wellbeing. A leaflet explaining the Jigsaw approach to PSHE can be found here.
